Ever since Kia announced it would be upgrading its current Sedona minivan, we've been dying to know more of the details. For a model that hasn't undergone any major changes since 2006, these upgrades are sure to be substantial. Now that the 2015 model has been spied testing in the automaker's homeland of South Korea, we have some details to share with all of you in the Reno, NV area.

Even with its camouflage covering, it's easy to recognize the Sedona with its coach-style back doors designed to create more entry space when opened backwards. A majority of its design influence comes from the KV7 minivan concept which debuted during the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. While the Sedona didn't adopt its unique wrap-around tail lights or headlights, it did inherit its boxy vehicle shape.

In terms of its powertrain, the 2015 Kia Sedona will most likely sport a 3.3-liter V-6 engine that can be found on the 2014 Kia Sorento and Cadenza models. When coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, it generates 290 horsepower. We will simply have to wait until the Sedona's unveiling draws closer to see if this prediction is true.

Kia reports that the minivan segment is still an important part of its lineup, and will continue to help it grow as a full-line automaker within the U.S. We can expect to find out more details regarding the new Sedona later this year around the time of the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

If you are interested in learning more, we encourage you to visit our Reno Kia showroom anytime during our normal business hours. Our friendly staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have and assist you in every way that they can!
