When looking at the new Kia lineup, it's easy to see that Kia has been stepping it up a notch when it comes to style, efficiency, and innovative technologies. To reflect this success, Interbrand released the Best Global Brands of 2013, showing that Kia's brand value has increased by an impressive 15 percent. The automaker certainly has reason to do a little celebrating.

On last year's list Kia ranked 87 and was able to jump to 83rd out of the 100 brands listed. Improving four spots isn't too shabby considering it was competing with companies from a variety of different industries. Especially since its improvement was higher than the average brand growth rate of 8.4 percent.

The higher ranking on the list was due in part to Kia's initiative to strengthen its brand identity. Its three main areas of focus revolved around being distinctive, reliable and vibrant. By following these characteristics, the automaker has increased its global marketing and pursued other marketing initiatives to further boost brand awareness. These include partnering with DreamWorks Animations and continuing sponsorship of key events like Van's Warped Tour and the MTV Music Awards.

Earlier this year, Kia was also recognized on Interbrand's list of 50 Best Global Green Brands for 2013. It ranked 37th thanks to models like the Kia Optima Hybrid and improved fuel economy ratings across the lineup.
